Common Core State Standards

The California State Content Standards (CCSS) have been created by the California Department of Education to provide a consistent and clear understanding of what students are should know and what they are able to do in each grade level. The CCSS were designed to encourage the highest achievement of students in grades K-12 by defining the knowledge, concepts, and skills students should acquire in each grade level. They also place an emphasis on critical thinking along with creativity, articulation, and collaboration.

The English Language Arts and Math CCSS have been adopted by 45 states since 2010. The adoption allows students to recieve a good education whether or not they move to a different school in or out of the same state. AUESD prides itself in teaching students the skills needed to be successful in high school, college, and the workforce. Teachers receive professional development on a regular basis to continue learning new and innocvative ways to teach the CCSS in order to provide the best education possible to students of AUESD.
