At Armona Union Elementary School District, we are committed to ensuring that every child has equal access to a high-quality education, regardless of their housing situation. The McKinney-Vento Homeless Education Assistance Program provides educational rights and support services to children and youth who are experiencing homelessness or housing instability.
Students who qualify under the McKinney-Vento Act have the right to enroll in school immediately, even if they lack typically required documents such as proof of residency, immunization records, or previous school records. Eligible students may also receive transportation assistance, free school meals, school supplies, and referrals to community resources to help remove barriers to academic success.
If your family is living in temporary housing, sharing housing due to financial hardship, staying in a shelter, motel, vehicle, campground, or another situation caused by the loss of housing or economic hardship, your child may qualify for services under the McKinney-Vento Act.
